From Rampedia
| PRIMARY STATS | |
|---|---|
| Hit Points: | Hit Points are one of the most important stats in the game. They directly reflect how much damage you can receive without dying. |
| Mana/Essence: | Mana/Essence allows you to perform skills, spells, and actions. It is vital for anyone who wants to do anything "special." |
| Accuracy: | Accuracy increases your chance to hit your opponent and not miss. |
| Agility: | Agility allows you to dodge, run, and jump better. It also can help you out of "sticky situations." |
| Defense: | Defense protects you from directly incoming damage. The more defense you have, the less damage you take! |
| Intelligence: | Intelligence governs your MN, your smarts, and your wit. People with low intelligence can do less than those with higher intelligence. |
| Stamina: | Stamina governs your overall hit points. It also affects your hunger. |
| Strength: | Strength determines exactly how much damage you deal in a single blow. |
| RACES | |
| Balnorian: | Balnorians are the "strongmen" of Matis, known for their lack of smarts and abundance of muscles. |
| Drifter: | Drifters are known for their jack-of-all-trades abilities. They hold rather basic stats, and do not specialize in much. |
| Outcast: | Outcasts of either the North or the South are granted the same bonuses from where they are born, but a severely reduced faction with their city. |
| Woodsman: | Woodsmen are animists who live in Redtrunk Wood. They are excellent with a bow, and have the ability to talk to animals. |
| Yalekian: | Yalekians are the most-intelligent of all other races on Matis. However, because of their focus on their studies, they suffer greatly in defensive and melee skills. |
| CLASSES | |
| Archer: | Archers specialize with bows, daggers, and traps. They also have the ability to become Druids later on. |
| Bard: | Bards are a supporting class for groups, who can buff entire teams, increase MN regeneration, and mesmerize foes. |
| Cleric: | Clerics heal, reinforce, and support their group with their powerful healing spells, as well as banish undead foes and smite nonbelievers. A good group needs a Cleric. |
| Hexist: | Hexists are lectors of ancient scripts which they use to damage, charm, and disable their foes. They also use powerful 2-handed swords to siphon their foes' MN. |
| Mage: | Magi use magic to deal damage to their foes and attempt to stay out of the way of the martial fighting. Magi can deal incredible damage, as well as summon familiars later on. |
| Marcist: | Marcists train to fight through purely martial means, ignoring pain, and not using weapons or armor--simply their limbs as weapons. Because of this, Marcists are a damage-dealing force to be reckoned with. |
| Rogue: | Rogues are the backstabbers of the group, fighting behind to deal massive damage, cripple, and poison their foes. |
| Templar: | Templars are the bulwark of any group, being able to take massive amounts of damage without dying. Templars use as much armor as possible, and shields, so as to reinforce their defenses. |
| Warrior: | Warriors maintain a balance of attacking and defending so as to fight or protect when needed. They are also known for having quite the temper. |

[edit] The Rules
While actually gameplay rules are limited only by imagination, there are a few rules in Rivalry which all players should be aware of:
- Don't be a dick
- Stay on task
- Don't spam
- Pay THE FUCK attention
- You MUST do what your Team Leader tells you to.
- Listen to the Game Master and don't interrupt him when he's narrating.
- Looting is decided by whoever struck the killing blow.
[edit] The Plot
The plot of Rivalry is constantly developing, changing, and shifting--what seems to be important today might hold no importance for tomorrow. However, there is a "Main Plot" so to speak, comprising of an "ultimate evil" which is selected by the group of players.
The story begins as such:
- You find yourselves in a party. A party intertwined of all different kinds of men; men from the North and men from the South, Outcasts, Drifters and Woodsmen. You are all battle-worn and tired--weakened from the deadlock of war just passed. Your reasons are separate, for why you joined this fight. Some for revenge, others for payment. But through your universal defeat, you have come to realize that the rivalry between the Northern and Southern factions is pointless.
- Whichever enemy you choose, your team must defeat as a unit. Whether it be the Southern Yalekians the Northern Balnorians the Woodsmen of Redtrunk or the wizard known as Enarch. Bards have told of an enemy sorcerer named Enarch, who bargained away his soul to the evil spirits of That Which Lies Beneath. From his bargaining he has created a place known as The Black Nothing--a plain of crags and rocks which spit fiery steam; a barren wasteland containing nothing more than rock, soot, and sulfur. It is from here that Enarch summons his evil.
- Enarch has been in embargo with the King of the southern both sides’ Generals lay slain in pools of their own blood--one killed by the very creatures Enarch promised would fight beside him. As you all bask in your own enlightenments you must come to a conclusion of the remaining path you must take. There is a city just south of you. A small town, known as Rinal. To the North, across My's Crossing, is Redtrunk Wood. And further south are The Mainlands--a dangerous plain of deadly animals and savage tribals. Of course, southwest is the granite-carved city of Yalek. And below that is the heavily guarded stone tower where Enarch is assumedly residing. As you look around you see smoky fields of blood and men. Some crying, but most dead. You see a small platoon of men, like yourselves, grouped together through adversity. Suddenly, a small portion of the group attacks another portion, killing them. By the looks of it, the now dead men were Yalekians.
- What is your next move?
The characters all met through being defeated in the War of New Beginnings, and through their defeat, they joined each other for the common purpose of defeating Enarch.
